Better Bond Strengths
Better bond strengths have got to be a positive thing? In modern dentistry it’s a matter of simple physics – the rougher the surface we are trying to stick something to – the better the retention. And, the better the bond¹, the better the restoration will survive.
Air abrasion has long been accepted as a technique that can roughen the surface more effectively² than a bur and this is where your Aquacut comes in. The next time that you will be bonding, use aluminium oxide in your Aquacut to condition the surface of the tooth – for self-etch materials no more etching will then be required.
So, crown preps, orthodontic bracket placements³, endodontic closure and filling⁴, sealing⁵ and lab work prior to cementation will all benefit from Aquacut conditioning and you will see better bond strengths.
